And a Little Child Shall Lead Them

"Out of the mouths of babes" is an expression for unexpected words of wisdom that children sometimes come up with. It happened this fall at the CROP Walk for the hungry in Speedway, Indiana where Don and Helen Botsford's grandson is a pastor.
Rev. Doug Kriz  made the walk this year with his four-year-old daughter (with the aid of her training-wheel bike). That evening as they were getting ready for bed, Rachel asked, "Are we going to walk again tomorrow?" When he answered "no" she asked, "Then how will we help those people find food and water?" How do you answer a question like that? Rev. Kriz says, "I patted myself on the back at the end of the CROP Walk, but Rachel never stopped being concerned...she was still ready to walk again." She may not understand the depth and complexity of the world hunger crisis, but she knows it continues on. "How will we help those people?" is always a good question for the church to ask. Sometimes it takes a child to remind us of the basics.
